National Engineers Week & Scholarship Endowments

2023 H.F. Lenz Scholarship Endowments

WE ARE ecstatic to announce our new $50,000 scholarship endowment benefitting students of the Penn State College of Engineering A/E program! Our Joel Shumaker will be attending the University’s 125th Anniversary ‎Celebration and Endowment Recognition Dinner this evening. The scholarship has been announced on the College ‎of Engineering website.

Earlier this year, we announced the establishment of a new $50,000 endowed scholarship to support engineering ‎students majoring in mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering at University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown.

Approximately 40% of our technical employees are alumni of Penn State University or Pitt-Johnstown.‎

“We are proud to be able to establish these scholarship funds to encourage academic excellence and help students ‎pursue their passion for engineering. The engineering programs at both universities are outstanding programs and ‎we are pleased to be able to support them. Most importantly, we are grateful to our employees and clients for the ‎success that makes these scholarship endowments possible.” – Thomas F. Deter, President of H.F. Lenz Company

This week is also National Engineers Week. Founded by the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) in ‎‎1951, Engineers Week, or EWeek, is dedicated to ensuring a diverse and well-educated future engineering ‎workforce by increasing understanding of and interest in engineering and technology careers. We would like to ‎give a huge shout-out to our employees for all that they do throughout the year to promote engineering and ‎encourage the next generation through participating in job shadowing opportunities and bring your child to work ‎days, attending K-12 career fairs and sponsoring STEM/STEAM activities, such as LEGO competitions. We are also ‎proud to have provided over 30 engineering internships in the past 5 years. We are grateful to our employees for ‎their participation and support in these activities to raise awareness and encourage youth to pursue engineering ‎careers and create a robust and diversified workforce!‎
