2023 Charity Golf Outing Announcement

We are proud to announce that this year’s beneficiary of our H.F. Lenz Company Annual Charity Golf Outing will be Beginnings, Inc.!

Beginnings, Inc. is a local nonprofit agency serving children from birth to age five and their families across Bedford, Cambria, Somerset counties.  The mission of Beginnings, Inc. is to enhance the development of children and empower their families by providing “the best start a child can have” as they work to enable children to reach their full potential developmentally and help families grow strong through early intervention and educational opportunities.

Their varied programs served 760 children and participating families in 2022!!

Early Intervention Services (Birth to Three)     *286 children*

Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Special Instruction,

Nutrition/Dietitian/Feeding

Parents As Teachers       *157 Children*

This is an evidenced based in-home visiting program that helps parents through support and knowledge sharing. Parent Educators plan sessions around developmentally appropriate activities, encouraging early literacy, key parenting topics, and connections to sustainable resources.

Parents and Children Together   *100 Children*

This program brings children together with their parents and siblings for a socialization experience. Children learn routines, make choices, new friendships, take turns, and create independently and collaboratively.  Parents benefit from sharing time and experiences with other parents!

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA Volunteers)    *102 Children*

This program recruits and trains community volunteers who pledge their time and energies to advocating for children who have become involved with the court system due to unsafe circumstances in their current living setting.  Volunteers work in partnership with Children and Youth Services and the Judges within the courts to ensure a safe, permanent, and nurturing home for each child. Children with a CASA Volunteer are half as likely to re-enter the foster care system.

Community Health Workers (Community Care Hub)   *115 Participants*

These ‘helpers’ serve as liaison between the families and children in the communities they serve, health care agencies, and other local resources.  Community Health Workers provide guidance, increase participants’ health knowledge and self-sufficiency through a range of activities such as outreach, community education, informal counseling, social support, and advocacy.

This year’s golf outing will be held on Monday, August 28, 2023, at Bedford Springs.
