Historic Renovation

  • Original courthouse constructed in 1904
  • Engineering services provided include mechanical, electrical, and plumbing/fire protection
  • The buildings contained 2 courtrooms, but needed an additional courtroom as well as upgrades to meet modern fire, safety, and handicapped ‎accessibility codes
  • The Project included:‎
    • New chiller and boiler plants
    • Four-pipe fan coil unit system for perimeter offices
    • Replacement of AHU’s and ductwork for existing two courtrooms
    • HVAC upgrades to comply with in-door air quality (IAQ) standards
    • New Courtroom and renovation of two existing courtrooms
    • New sprinkler system integrated within existing historic fabric
    • New fire alarm and life safety systems
    • Plumbing improvements
    • Lighting including existing lighting refurbishing
    • Security
    • Complete state-of-the-art communications system
    • ADA upgrades, elevator replacement, ADA lifts and ramps
    • Construction phasing to maintain building occupancy
    • Carefully designed insertion of the new courtroom into the building to maintain the building’s landmark status and respect its architecture
    • Complete redesign of major systems: HVAC, electrical, fire protection, and plumbing
