PennWest California: Medium Voltage Upgrades
H.F. Lenz Company designed the improvements to the existing medium voltage main switchgear and medium voltage primary distribution switchgear serving. The existing main switchgear was S&C main-tie-main arrangement with Westinghouse walk-in distribution switchgear. The switchgear distributes the campus primary electrical at a voltage of 12.47 kV
The new system features the following advantages:
- Replaced aging electrical equipment
- Replaced two pieces of switchgear with one piece of switchgear
- Standardized overcurrent protection devices
- Configured for current and future redundant feeders
- Allows for future expansion
- Allows for metering each feeder
- Allows for future internet connection to metering
