H.F. Lenz Company’s Mission Statement:

“Provide high quality, state-of-the-art, and cost effective engineering and surveying services to a diversified clientele, which will assure a fair return on investment to provide for the continued employment and well being of the employees, and the perpetuation of the company.”

As part of our mission statement, our resources are devoted to our most important asset – our employees. While our business has grown by over 50% in the past 10 years, we recognize that this sustained company growth would not be possible without the hard work and dedication of each individual to produce quality results on every project.

We continue to invest in the improvement of our employees by encouraging the latest certifications, continuing education, cross-training programs, mentoring, in-house training seminars, conferences, trade seminars, professional memberships and trade organizations. Several of our employees also hold positions on various technical boards and with trade associations.

While H.F. Lenz Company may be headquartered in a small town, our projects are anything but. We compete with other top engineering companies for complex, $100 million+ projects for high-profile clientele nationwide and work in collaboration with the largest architectural and construction management firms in the world.

We are fiercely loyal, as all principals are promoted from within the company. Our employee-centered focus is just one reason for our outstanding retention and attraction of top talent in the Consulting Engineering industry. Consistently ranked in ENR’s Top 500 Design Firms, we’ve enjoyed a stable employment history with an 85% repeat business rate from satisfied clients – a testament to the caliber of our employees.

Stewardship

As a part of our goal to be responsible stewards to our surrounding environment and community, H.F. Lenz Company is committed to giving back.

Charity: Each year the company hosts a Charity Golf Outing to raise money for a different charity. This year we raised over $21,000 for the Children and Youth Advisory Board, which provides assistance to the foster and dependent children of the County. Employees also participate annually in the CMTA Charity Benefit Softball Tournament and Toys for Tots. The company donates to various local charities, including the Salvation Army, The Association for the Blind, Women’s Help Center, and Veteran Community Initiatives, among others. The company has also made numerous contributions to the Veteran’s Shelter, with which employee, Tim Earhart, volunteers regularly.

Technical Boards & Committees: Many of our employees invest their time as members or board members of various committees. Paul Petrilli is an ASHRAE member who served as a past Society Director and Chair of Region III, society Nominating Committee Member, society Scholarship Trustee and serves on the Honors and Awards Committee, and Tim Earhart serves on a Healthcare and Education sustainability committee. Several employees are also involved with the Johnstown Chapter of American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE) including Steve Kormanik (President), Michael Spinelli (Vice President: Technical), Paul Alexander (Vice President: Membership), and James F. Spinelli (Treasurer & Secretary).

Local Talent Involvement: H.F. Lenz Company also encourages local talent by speaking at career fairs, participating in student job shadow opportunities, and hiring seasonal interns.

Technology: One of the ways in which we enable our employees to perform their best is by investing in the latest technology and software. Among our different disciplines we have CADD, AutoCAD, Revit, SKM, etap, AMPCalc, Visual Professional, and IESVE, to name a few of our most commonly used programs.

Environmental Stewardship: Not only are we committed to promoting and incorporating sustainable practices in our designs and projects, but in our own buildings as well. Our Conneaut, OH office is LEED® Silver certified and our Johnstown, PA office is in the process of obtaining LEED® Silver certification. Our Johnstown office also earned the ENERGY STAR® in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014 and 2015. We don’t overlook the little measures either. There are paper recycling bins located beside printers and the reuse of containers is encouraged by placing water coolers throughout the building.
